McNeese 2017 Fall Rodeo Roundup - Monday, November 20, 2017

McNeese Rodeo National Rankings

After competing in five rodeos for the fall 2017 season, the McNeese State University womenís team is ranked No. 11 nationally while the menís rodeo team is ranked No. 18 by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. McNeese competes in the NIRA Southern Region.

Womenís rodeo team member Mia Manzanares, Opelousas, is ranked No. 1 in the nation in breakaway roping, No. 2 in womenís all around and No. 9 in goat tying.

Fellow team member Grace Hanley, Welsh, is ranked No. 9 in barrel racing.

For the menís team, Gabe Soileau, Bunkie, is ranked No. 7 in steer wrestling while Zachary Jongbloed, Iowa, is ranked No. 17.

Ryder Sanford, Sulphur, is ranked in the top 25 in saddle bronc riding.

Southern Region Rankings

The McNeese womenís team is third in the Southern Regionís rankings, while the menís team is in fourth place.

Manzanares is ranked No. 1 in the womenís all around, breakaway roping and goat tying, while Hanley is ranked No. 1 in barrel racing,

In breakaway roping, Kelsey Brashear, Lake Charles, is tied for No. 8 and Kathryn Murphy, Iowa, is tied for No. 12.

In goat tying, Carly Hibbs, Prineville, Ore., is ranked No. 10 and Ashleigh Young, Arlington, Texas, is ranked No. 13.

In steer wrestling, Soileau is ranked No. 1, Jongbloed is tied for No. 4, Remey Parrot, Mamou, is ranked No. 6, William Heinen, Jennings, is ranked No. 7 and Frey is ranked No. 8.

In saddle bronc riding, Sanford is ranked No. 3 and Lathan Lyons, Eunice, is No. 9.

In bareback riding, Colten Onyett, Rangley, Colo., is ranked No. 8 while Garrett Mouton, Lafayette, is ranked No. 10.

In tie down roping competition, Jongbloed is ranked No. 8 and Cole Frey, Morganza, is No. 13.

In team roping header, Richard LeBlanc, Walker, is ranked No. 9 and Frey is No. 11, while in team roping heeler, Kody Hendricks, Green Cove Springs, Fla., is tied for No. 15.
