McNeese offers Com-STEM First-Time Freshman Scholarships - Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Area high school seniors interested in pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics disciplines at McNeese State University can apply now for the McNeese Community-based STEM, or Com-STEM, First-Time Freshman Scholarships.

A $500 scholarship is offered to a limited number of students for their first semester only. The awarding of this scholarship is based on the student's ACT score and high school transcript. Since the fall 2006 semester, Com-STEM has awarded an average of 25 first-time freshman scholarships during the fall semester of each year, according to Elizabeth Stevenson, Com-STEM program coordinator.

Specific disciplines for the scholarship include agricultural sciences, biological science, chemistry, computer information technology, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, environmental science, dietetics, mathematics, clinical laboratory science, physics, radiologic sciences and natural resource conservation management.
