Joseph T. Miller Sr., a Lake Charles businessman and civic leader, received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree during McNeese State University's spring commencement ceremony today, Saturday, May 18, at Burton Coliseum.

McNeese State University will offer a variety of electronic learning courses for academic credit during the 2013 fall semester. The fall class schedule is available online at www.mcneese.edu/schedule. Regular registration is currently underway through Aug. 19. Fall classes begin Aug. 26.

This free event is sponsored by McNeese's Pre-law and Politics Society student organization.

 Nineteen engineering students and faculty were inducted into the Order of the Engineer Ring Ceremony conducted by the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology at McNeese State University.

McNeese State University alumnus Adam Johnson has won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for fiction with his novel, "The Orphan Master's Son,” set in North Korea.

The McNeese State University Chemistry and Physics Department is currently taking applications for a graduate fellowship through the Doré School of Graduate Studies that leads to the Master of Science degree in environmental and chemical sciences. The fellowship is available for a currently certified Louisiana high school or middle school teacher to begin studies for the fall 2013 semester.

McNeese State University has been nationally recognized for offering affordable tuition and high average salary earnings for graduates. McNeese ranked 32nd in the top 58 public institutions by AffordableCollegesOnline.org.
