McNeese to Hold 66th Annual Rodeo

The McNeese State University Rodeo will be held at Burton Coliseum Thursday, April 29, and Friday, April 30, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and noon on Friday. Seating will be limited to 500.

Heading into the competition, the McNeese Rodeo women’s team is currently ranked first in the Southern Region and the men’s team stands in fifth place, according to the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.

With just two rodeos left in the regular season, on the women’s team, Kamryn Duncan, Denham Springs, currently leads in women’s all-around and goat tying and is ranked at No. 4 in breakaway roping, where Chloe Frey, Opelousas, is also ranked No. 5. Ashleigh Young, Mansfield, Texas, stands in the No. 5 position in goat tying, Kaylee Cormier, Iowa, is ranked No. 6 and Katie Murphy, Bell City, is currently ranked No. 9 in the event.

On the men’s team, Gavin Soileau, Bunkie, is first in steer wrestling, Remmey Parrot, Mamou, is at No. 7 and Grant Soileau, Bunkie, is ranked No. 8 in the same event. Waylon Beourgeoius, Church Point, is ranked in second place in bareback riding. Issac Richard, Eunice, is currently No. 6 in the saddle bronc riding.

Tickets are $10 and admission is free for children ages 5 and under. McNeese students get in free with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. For more information, call 475-5690.
