The McNeese State University Alumni Association will present its 2018 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year awards during halftime ceremonies at the Cowboys vs. Nicholls State Colonels football game Saturday, Sept. 15.

McNeese State University students Sydney Broussard, a nursing senior from Hackberry, and Gunnar Goodwin, an engineering senior from Lake Charles, have been named McNeese’s 2018 Homecoming Queen and King.

Six McNeese State University faculty members are recipients of the 2018 Pinnacle Excellence Awards established by Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. – the parent company of L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles - to recognize outstanding faculty achievement in each of the McNeese colleges - business, education, engineering and computer science, liberal arts, nursing and health professions and science and agriculture.

8/28/2018 Louisiana Pigment Commits to McNeese First Choice Campaign
 Louisiana Pigment has made a $75,000 commitment to the First Choice Campaign for McNeese State University. McNeese has launched a three-year First Choice Campaign with its local industry partners with a goal of raising $1 million per year for those three years for sustaining growth and self-sufficiency.

Three agricultural sciences students at McNeese State University were among 13 Louisiana students to receive the American Future Farmers of America Degree at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

 All teacher education programs in the McNeese State University Burton College of Education have earned reaccreditation for another seven years from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the sole nationally recognized accrediting body for education preparation.

6/5/2018 McNeese MFA Graduate Receives Prestigious Stanford Lectureship

McNeese State University graduate Jenn Alandy Trahan has been awarded the prestigious Jones Lectureship in Fiction at Stanford University. As a Jones Lecturer, Trahan will teach courses in creative writing while working to complete her first book.

McNeese State University’s W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts opens the 2019 spring McNeese Theatre season with the musical production of "Songs for a New World” Jan. 9-13 at Tritico Theatre. Times are 7:30 p.m. Jan. 9-12 and 2 p.m. Jan 13.

Dr. Michael Buckles has been named dean of the College of Liberal Arts at McNeese State University. The appointment was approved at Thursday’s (June 21) meeting of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

Dr. Ann Warner, professor and co-coordinator of the graduate nursing program at McNeese State University, is one of 49 nursing faculty from 25 states to be selected for the 2018 Leadership for Academic Nursing Program sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

7/9/2018 McNeese Names Interim College of Business Dean

Dr. Cynthia Rodriguez Cano, assistant professor of marketing at McNeese State University, has been named interim dean of the College of Business, according to Dr. Mitchell Adrian, provost and vice president for academic affairs and enrollment management at McNeese. Her appointment is effective Aug. 1. Cano replaces Dr. Lonnie Phelps, who has been serving as interim dean since August 2017.

Dr. Wendi C. Prater has been named director of the Office of E-Learning at McNeese State University. Prater previously worked as an architect with Blockchain Technology in Austin, Texas.

10/10/2018McNeese Nursing Professor Elected to National Leadership Role

Dr. Tari Dilks, professor of nursing at McNeese State University, has been elected president-elect of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association Board of Directors. Dilks will begin her term at the APNA 32nd Annual Conference Oct. 24-27 in Columbus, Ohio

 Kedrick Nicholas, associate dean of students at McNeese State University, has been elected as the 2018-2019 president of the Louisiana Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators at its recent conference. He is the eighth McNeese student affairs staff member since 1978 to serve as president of LACUSPA, which isan organization dedicated to servicing higher education professionals, students and associates in Louisiana.

Michael Casteel, a double major in computer science and computer engineering at McNeese State University, placed among the top 10 scorers in IBM’s national online interactive code cracking challenge, The IBM Vault, held this fall. The challenge drew over 3,000 participants.

McNeese State University engineering junior Anthony Miller, of Sulphur, is one of 13 undergraduates from Louisiana institutions to receive a NASA-funded summer internship focused on what happens inside thunderstorm cells at high altitudes.

6/28/2018 Ogea Named Interim Burton College of Education Dean

Dr. Angelique M. Ogea, associate professor of education professions, has been named interim dean of the Burton College of Education at McNeese State University, according to Dr. Mitchell Adrian, provost and vice president for academic affairs and enrollment management at McNeese. Her appointment is effective July 1 following the announcement of the retirement of Dr. Wayne Fetter.

10/3/2018 Rainwater Scholarships

Many students are able to attend McNeese State University for one reason - scholarships. A recent $10,000 donation from a 1985 McNeese alumnus has changed the lives of four students by providing financial support to obtain a degree.
