5/16/2016 Willie Landry Mount Receives Honorary Doctorate at McNeese Spring Commencement

McNeese State University conferred an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree to Willie Landry Mount - a successful Lake Charles business owner, outstanding civic leader, a distinguished mayor and state senator and an ardent supporter of McNeese - during the 146th commencement ceremony Saturday, May 14, at the Burton Complex.

In 2011 McNeese State University became the second university in the United States to offer a minor in innovation engineering management, a unique interdisciplinary program open to students of any major.

McNeese State University’s College of Engineering ranks third among all public and private institutions in the nation with the greatest lifetime return on investment for its engineering majors, according to the 2015 College ROI Report by PayScale, Inc., the world's leading provider of on-demand compensation data and software.

9/10/2014 Robert Noland Pavilion Opens

The ribbon cutting for the completed Robert Noland Alumni Pavilion at McNeese State University was held Wednesday, Sept. 10. The 4,709 square-foot outdoor facility is located in the Alumni Grove directly south of the McNeese Stream Alumni Center off Common Street.

6/6/2014 H.C. Drew Estate Donates Over $4 Million to McNeese State University

A $4 million gift from the H.C. Drew Estate Endowment will support the new McNeese State University Health and Human Performance Educational Complex. The entire donation, more than $4.3 million, is the second largest single private gift to McNeese, according to Richard Reid, vice president for university advancement and executive vice president of the McNeese Foundation.

Joseph T. Miller Sr., a Lake Charles businessman and civic leader, received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree during McNeese State University's spring commencement ceremony today, Saturday, May 18, at Burton Coliseum.

McNeese State University alumnus Adam Johnson has won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for fiction with his novel, "The Orphan Master's Son,” set in North Korea.

11/19/2012Dr. Kalil Ieyoub Named McNeese Professor Emeritus

Dr. Kalil P. Ieyoub, retired chemistry professor, chemistry department head, dean of the college of science and vice president for administration and student affairs at McNeese State University, was recently honored by the university with Professor Emeritus status.

10/2/2012 Magazine Ranks McNeese MFA Program No. 24 in Nation

Poets & Writers magazine has again named McNeese State University's Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing as one of the top 50 MFA programs in the United States in its 2012 September/October issue.

9/13/2012 McNeese Ranks High in U.S. News & World Report

McNeese State University is the highest ranked Louisiana regional public university in the South in two categories according to the 2013 Best Colleges edition of U.S. News & World Report that was released Wednesday. There are 625 institutions nationwide in the regional category.

6/26/2012 McNeese and Sowela Sign agreement to Reduce McNeese Tuition for Sowela Facuty and Staff

Technical Community College faculty and staff will be able to advance their own education through reduced tuition at McNeese State University.Sowela and McNeese have signed a memorandum of understanding to provide faculty and staff of Sowela with reduced tuition when enrolling in McNeese courses.

6/17/2011 William J. Dore' Receives Highest Award From Horatio Alger Association

The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans recently honored William J. Doré with the 2011 Horatio Alger Norman Vincent Peale Award in Washington D.C.

8/30/2010 Dr. Robert Hebert named President-Emeritus
 The Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System named Robert Hebert President-Emeritus of McNeese State University. Hebert retired in June after serving 41 years at McNeese and 23 of them as president, making him the university's longest-serving president.
