A $45,000 donation has been given to McNeese State University to establish the Sylvia McGuire and David C. Elks Scholarship through the McNeese Foundation.
David C. Elks, a 1969 McNeese history graduate who lives in Stonington, Connecticut, has established the scholarship on his behalf and in memory of his wife, Sylvia, who attended McNeese and was a strong advocate of the university. Elks – who credits McNeese for his success in life – has designated the scholarship for history or liberal arts majors.
