United Way of Southwest Louisiana recently gave $53,000 to the McNeese State University Foundation to support the Kay Doré Counseling Clinic’s suicide prevention program ($48,000) and hurricane relief for men’s basketball ($5,000). The gift to the counseling clinic is part of an education grant that will bring suicide prevention training to counselors in Calcasieu Parish schools. This is also the first year the clinic is a partner agency with United Way. On hand for the presentation are, from left, Denise Durel, United Way of SWLA president and CEO, Caitlyn Kudrecki, suicide prevention program coordinator for the Kay Doré Counseling Clinic, and Dr. Wade Rousse, vice president for university advancement and dean of the college of business.
