The McNeese State University men’s and women’s rodeo teams both placed second in the first rodeo of the spring semester at the Texas A&M University – Commerce rodeo competition Feb. 2-3.
For the men’s team, Isaac Richard, Eunice, took first place in saddle bronc riding while
Shea Fournier, Raceland, placed fifth and Jace Nixon, Lake Charles, and Drew Bordelon, Ville Platte, tied for sixth place.
In bareback riding, Kash Martin, Pollok, Texas, placed fourth while Jacob Lamon, also from Pollok, Texas, and Connor Griffith, Bradford, Tennessee, tied for seventh place.
In steer wrestling, Brad Hesnor, Ville Platte, took third place.
For the women’s team, Kamryn Duncan, Denham Springs, placed second in goat tying while Alyssa Kate Gary, LeBleu Settlement, took fourth place and Katelyn Schlang, also from LeBleu Settlement, took eighth place.
Kylie Conner, Welsh, placed third in barrel racing.
Currently, the men’s team is in first place in the Southern Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association, while the women’s team sits in fourth place.
The McNeese rodeo team’s next competition is March 8-9 at Texas A&M University in College Station.
