8/16/2019 2019 McNeese Cowboy Camp Offered
 

The 12th Annual Cowboy Camp at McNeese State University will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 16-17, to give the incoming freshman class and transfer students the opportunity to learn about the traditions and history of McNeese before the 2019 fall semester begins.

 The McNeese State University Harp Camp will be offered July 29- Aug. 2 in the Shearman Fine Arts Center.

 The McNeese State University Counseling Center has been awarded accreditation by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS).

 For the last 19 years, McNeese State University’s Honors College has changed nearly 500 students’ lives. Honors College provides additional educational opportunities for students with strong academic backgrounds, including scholarships, priority registration, personalized academic counseling and access to special classes.

McNeese State University Master of Fine Arts student Matthew Moniz has been accepted into two prestigious summer workshops ­– the 2019 Community of Writers Poetry Workshop held in Squaw Valley, Calif., and the Tin House Summer Workshop at Reed College in Portland, Ore.

 Dr. Ning Zhang, professor of mechanical engineering at McNeese State University, has been named a Fellow of the 2019 class of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

This summer, biological science major Tanner Marceaux, of Lake Charles, will travel to Bethesda, Maryland, to participate in a prestigious 10-week summer internship at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS).

The McNeese State University Autism Program (MAP) is hosting the BRIDGES summer program from June 3 – July 12 for adolescents and young adults with autism.

Five McNeese State University alumni, a fraternity and a sorority were recognized at the 3rd Annual Trailblazer Awards program sponsored by the McNeese Black Alumni Chapter. This program - which raises money to support the BAC Scholarship Fund established with the McNeese Foundation - identifies community leaders who have had a significant impact on McNeese and the black community.

McNeese State University student Khristian Anthony, of Sulphur, has been recognized as the McNeese 2019 Janet Delaine Student Employee of the Year. Anthony works in the Community Services and Outreach Office, which oversees the early admissions and dual enrollment programs for high school students.

More than two-thirds of all new jobs in science, technology, engineering and math will be computing occupations by 2022, according to Code.org, a national non-profit organization focused on increasing access to computer science education in schools.
