2/26/2012 2012 McNeese Banners Cultural Series Set
 

The membership campaign for the 20th season of the Banners Cultural Series at McNeese State University is in full swing. Twenty events will take place between Feb. 26 and May 12, and will range from a Bollywood style of belly dancing to singing the blues.

The McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts will present a guest artist recital featuring pianist Dr. Susan Tang at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, in the Shearman Fine Arts Theatre.

Dr. Wendy Whelan, McNeese assistant professor of American literature and women studies, has received her doctorate in English from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Her dissertation is titled, "Transformational Theories: North American Women Writers and Their Revisions of Homeric Epic.”

McNeese State University faculty Dr. Kiran Boggavarapu, assistant professor of chemistry, and Dr. Anil K. Kandalam, assistant professor of physics, have once again collaborated with research colleagues from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland to discover something new – lead sulfide (PbS) baby crystals.

The theme of this spring's McNeese State University Senior Adult Group Encounter program is "Louisiana Potpourri.” SAGE offers a series of topics for area adults age 50 and over on Mondays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in Room 103 of Hardtner Hall or Room 207 of the Shearman Fine Arts Annex.

Six McNeese State University students received the Summa Cum Laude (3.90-4.00) designations in fall commencement ceremonies held Saturday, Dec. 17, at Burton Coliseum.

1/4/2012 Notary Public Exam Prep Course Offered at McNeese
 

A Notary Public Exam Prep course will be offered by the McNeese State University Electronic Learning Officeand the Louisiana State University-Shreveport Continuing Education Department through compressed video from 1-5 p.m. Saturdays, March 3 – May 5, excluding March 31 and April 7, on McNeese's campus.

12/16/2011McNeese CALL Program Offers Management Online Degree
 

McNeese State University will offer an online baccalaureate degree in management this spring through the Center for Adult Learning in Louisiana (CALL) program. The McNeese CALL program already offers three online degree programs— sociology, sociology with a concentration in family and child studies, and a criminal justice degree in a 2+2 program with Louisiana State University-Eunice.

8/30/2010 Dr. Robert Hebert named President-Emeritus
 The Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System named Robert Hebert President-Emeritus of McNeese State University. Hebert retired in June after serving 41 years at McNeese and 23 of them as president, making him the university's longest-serving president.
