1/16/2018 Spring 2018 Fee Deadline Set at McNeese

Students who have registered online for McNeese State University’s 2018 regular spring semester have until 4:30 p.m. Jan. 10 to pay fees. Spring classes begin Jan. 16.

12/12/2017McNeese Marching Band Preparing for London New Years Day Parade

A group of 127 members of the McNeese State University Pride of McNeese Marching Band and Cowgirl Kickers will be flying out of Houston on Dec. 28 to take part in the 2018 London New Year’s Day Parade and Festival.

 As family members watched Saturday morning, Lola Grichendler, of Lake Charles, was awarded the first health systems management degree by McNeese State University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions at the 149th commencement ceremony held in Burton Coliseum.
12/5/2017 McNeese BRIDGES Program Now Offered Year Round

The McNeese State University Autism Program will now offer its BRIDGES program year round. Enrollment is open for ages 13 and up for those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum.

McNeese State University has been designated a 2018 Military Friendly School for the third consecutive year by Victory Media, the leader in successfully connecting the military and civilian worlds and publisher of G.I. Jobs, STEM Jobs and Military Spouse.

After competing in five rodeos for the fall 2017 season, the McNeese State University women’s team is ranked No. 11 nationally while the men’s rodeo team is ranked No. 18 by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. McNeese competes in the NIRA Southern Region.

11/10/2017McNeese Partners With Calcasieu Parish School Board and CITGO to Bring STEM Education Program to Elementary Students

McNeese State University has partnered with the Calcasieu Parish School System and CITGO to bring STEM education to over 900 elementary students in 23 participating elementary schools through a national program called Engineering is Elementary.

The McNeese State University Alumni Association presented its 2017 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year awards during halftime ceremonies at the Cowboys vs. the Southeastern Lions football game Saturday, Nov. 4.

 Kenneth Baskin, associate professor of art at McNeese, has had one of his ceramic pieces – Gear and Sprocket - featured in the October issue of Ceramics Monthly. This piece was selected to publicize his solo exhibit currently on display at McGuireWoods Gallery in the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Va.

Susan Thibodeaux, business consultant for the Louisiana Small Business Development Center at McNeese State University, is the recipient of the 2017 LSBDC State Star Award. She was recognized by America’s Small Business Development Centers at its recent national conference in Nashville, Tenn.

McNeese State University is celebrating the careers and accomplishments of three former rodeo members—James Boudreaux, Holly Foster Berry and Dickie McBride—by inducting them into the 2017 McNeese Rodeo Hall of Fame.

The McNeese State University graduating class of fall 2017 will be the first to "Geaux Blue” at commencement on Dec. 9 in Burton Coliseum - students receiving bachelor’s degrees will be sporting newly designed blue robes and caps with blue and gold tassels.

A $3,000 mini-grant to promote health on the McNeese State University campus has been awarded to the Students of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic organization in the Harold and Pearl Dripps School of Agricultural Sciences.

Six McNeese State University faculty members are recipients of the 2017 Pinnacle Excellence Awards established by Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. – the parent company of L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles - to recognize outstanding faculty achievement in each of the McNeese colleges - business, education, engineering and computer science, liberal arts, nursing and health professions and science and agriculture.

9/29/2017 McNeese Interns Gain Valuable Experience

Several McNeese State University students in the Harold and Pearl Dripps School of Agricultural Sciences took advantage of internships this summer that provided real life training outside of the classroom. These internships included tagging wildlife in Cameron Parish and New Mexico, promoting Brahman cattle in Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas, packing eggs in Iowa, vaccinating pigs in North Carolina and working with horses in Ecuador.

9/29/2017 McNeese Nursing Pass Rate Exceeds State and National Rates

McNeese State University’s 2016 nursing graduates have achieved a 97.2 percent first-time passage rate on the NCLEX-RN, the national licensure exam for nursing students.

For the seventh consecutive year, McNeese State University has received national recognition as one of the best regional universities and one of the top public universities by U.S. News and World Report, widely considered to be the foremost authority on college rankings.

Enrollment at McNeese State University this fall is in the black for the first time in seven years.

9/21/2017 Rouge et Blanc Named Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event
  The Southeast Tourism Society (STS) recently honored Rouge et Blanc as a 2017 Top 20 Event for the month of October. The premier food and wine event will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, under the stately live oaks of McNeese State University from 2-6 p.m.
9/18/2017 McNeese Radiologic Sciences Graduates Ace National Certification Exam

The 2017 McNeese State University radiologic sciences graduates had a 100 percent passage rate on their first attempt on the national certification examination in radiography administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.

 Student Central – a one-stop shop - is now open in Chozen Hall on the McNeese State University campus for prospective students and parents and incoming as well as continuing students.
8/3/2017 McNeese Professor Selected to Set Sail on the Nautilus Second Year in a Row

For a second year, McNeese State University assistant professor of biology Dr. Amber Hale sailed aboard the 211-foot Exploration Vessel Nautilus Aug. 4-18 across the coasts of Oregon and California in the name of scientific exploration.

8/2/2017 McNeese's Kappa Sigma Fraternity Receives National Awards

McNeese State University’s Theta Rho chapter of Kappa Sigma fraternity was recently presented with four national awards at the 71st Biennial Grand Conclave in Las Vegas, Nev.
